Maintainence Tips For Artificial Grass
Artificial
grass needs less maintenance
than natural grass. Natural grass has to be
mowed at regular intervals; weeds have to
be pulled out to keep it neat and tidy. This
involves a lot of work and all the spare time
has to be spent mowing the lawn. Artificial
grass is a great boon. It looks green all
year round. It was initially used in sports
fields. It has now become an option for the
lawn in homes. Artificial grass is placed
on a rubberized turf. It looks realistic.
It does not need watering as natural grass,
and is thus environment friendly.
The company that installs the artificial grass should give maintenance procedures so that people who use it can have a hassle-free time.
To maintain a good artificial
turf, the area should be fenced
in. This will give us the exact space that
has to be kept clean. It should be swept regularly
to give it a natural look. Sweeping should
be done such that the infill does not compact.
The brushing should be done in opposite directions
and not in one direction only, so that the
grass looks well kept. It should be cleaned
of dirt, dust, leaves, paper, twigs and anything
that may decay. Any solid waste that gets
deposited on the grass should be removed with
a spatula. Solid waste includes chewing gum,
dog's dirt, leaves etc. Weeds and moss should
also be cleaned. Rain is the best cleanser.
The rain water flushes the grass of the dust,
pollen etc. If, it is an area where there
is not enough rain, flushing water with a
hose will help. Care should be taken not to
use tools which may damage the surface.
The grass should be kept clean. Oil, grease, etc. should not be spilt on it. If such a thing happens, it should be immediately cleaned. Any stain on artificial grass is due to the residues of foreign particles. Always clean with soap and water, to remove any stains. Cleaning liquids having alcohol, or solvents like acetone, should not be used.
The artificial grass
generally has an infill. This is made up of
silicon sand or granulated rubber from recycled
car tires. If some areas of the grass are
more regularly used, they will tend to have
low spots. This has to be filled with either
sand or rubber to level it. The water, either
rain water or water that is used to clean
it occasionally, should have space to drain.
If it an area where it snows, the snow and
ice should be allowed to melt and drain away.
People using the artificial
grass should use it carefully. It
generally lasts for ten years or more. It
is not weather dependant. Care should be taken
to make the area smoke-free. Fireworks should
not be used near the grass. Vehicles should
not be parked on the grass. This will damage
the turf. Since the grass is artificial and
is placed on a rubber or sand, the seams might
come open. In such a case, it should be repaired
immediately, to prevent more harm to the grass.
Artificial grass is comparatively easier to maintain, durable and lasts for a long time. Since the work involved is lesser and it looks as good, it is definitely a great option.
