There are many great reasons to landscape your residence with an artificial lawn. These reasons include low maintenance, eco-friendliness, and durability. However, there is another reason that is often overlooked: allergies.
One in five Americans suffer from allergies and this includes reactions brought on by grass, trees and weed pollen. If you suffer from allergies and you have a grass lawn, your chances of enjoying it to its full potential can be seriously compromised. Instead of relaxing on a blanket on your lawn watching the clouds roll by, you sit at your patio door wistfully looking at the green expanse while watching precious time go by. Instead of enjoying the fruits of your labor after planting, watering and nurturing your lawn from seed or sod, you bring your lawn to life – then enjoy it from afar. Rather than join your family on the patio for a BBQ, you eat your burger inside. The garden party you were planning this spring? Cancelled. Your daughter’s wedding that she wanted to have at home in the back yard? Only if you stock up on Claritin. Even if you do not suffer from allergies, it is likely you know someone that does and since the good host(ess) plans around the needs of the guests, the whole issue of outdoor allergies can put a serious crimp in your social style.
While most allergy sufferers find their symptoms flare up in the spring and early summer, some find their nose running and eyes itching well into August and even September. When reactions occur that late in the year, it is likely a reaction to the mold in your lawn. This mold can easily become airborne when disturbed by trimmers and lawn mowers. Another thing to watch for whether you have allergies or not is winter rot. If you left leaves and grass trimmings on your lawn before the first snowfall of the season, expect them to deteriorate quickly come spring causing a soggy, moldy, health compromising mess.
There is no need to suffer and be apart from your lawn. When you choose the convenience of an artificial lawn, you can enjoy your yard to the fullest without having to have a box of tissue in hand for your runny nose and eyes each time you step out your door. With an artificial lawn, you can lie on that grass, host that party, participate in the BBQ, and plan that wedding. In fact, you will have all the time you need to do those things since your artificial lawn does not require fertilizer, weeding, watering or cutting. Just imagine the freedom of waking up on the weekend knowing that you do not have to spend your morning engaged in lawn care and you can go out and enjoy your lawn without worrying about your allergies.
Of all the many reasons to switch to an artificial lawn, allergies are one of the most important. Being outdoors is healthy and social. Do not let your allergies keep you housebound when the answer is as simple and cost effective as “artificial lawn”.
